The final step before the dentures are processed is a wax try-in. This step allows you to see what the dentures look like in place, and changes can be made if required. This way you can be confident of what your smile will look like before you take delivery of your new dentures.

The normal process to make new partial dentures (with metal denture or flexible denture) usually takes about three and half weeks. There are four appointments to make sure the look and function of your partial dentures are to the highest standards.

Speaking

Dentures Albany Creek

Speaking may seem strange or even difficult at first. This is because your tongue has to learn where the teeth are. It is a good idea to read aloud to yourself for short periods during the first few days. Take occasional sips of water from a glass, as reading aloud will make your mouth feel dry. There is no need to be embarrassed about speaking; other people are much less aware of the awkwardness than you are. This is because your own voice doesn’t sound the same to other people as it does to you. This is because your own voice doesn’t sound the same to other people as it does to you. When you hear yourself speak, most of the sound reaches your ears by means of vibrations in the bones of the jaw and skull, this varies from the sound that travels through the air in the ordinary way. Therefore, any small changes become much more noticeable to the speaker than to anyone else. (Dentures Albany Creek)

Taste

Patients frequently report that the sense of taste is affected when they first wear dentures. They sometimes think that this is caused by the palate being covered by the dentures. In fact, taste buds are only present on the tongue, not in the palate. There are two reasons why food seems to lose some of it’s taste: First the feeling of the food being squashed against the palate is lost; second although the taste buds are working quite normally, the message they send to the brain is interrupted by the large number of sensory nerves in the mouth, telling the brain that a strange new object is in the mouth. As you become more accustomed to your dentures your brain pays less attention to these messages from the sensory nerves. When this happens, food regains its taste.

Why see a Dental Prosthetist?

Dentists are one of a number of dental professionals. There are other specialists with different training and duties who serve in the dental field. One of them is known as the dental Prosthetist. The word implies a relative relation to Dentures, and Denturists or Dental Prosthetist are the experts in examining your jaw and taking measurements for dentures. Later on, they construct the dentures, deliver them, and then fit them into a patient’s mouth.

Dental Prosthetists are the reliable partners of prosthodontists, the doctors who are expert in oral and maxillofacial prosthetics (these are non-native implants to the mouth, face and neck) and who are part cosmetic dentists in that their surgical implants help align your teeth. Meanwhile, Dental Prosthetists fit dentures in non-surgical settings and often have independent practices.

Your Dental Prosthetist like Denture Square Team usually graduates from an accredited Dental Prosthetic program. After some time in OJT (on the job training), they are required to obtain a national license. Dental Prosthetists are often called upon to replace missing teeth with partial or total dentures. Like dentists, they also play a big part in getting back a patient’s self-esteem.

What does a Dental Prosthetist do?

The mission is to provide durable dental replacements that are good to look at and comfortably fit patients. Their tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Collecting a patient’s medical history to see all the problems related to a patient’s having dentures
    • Conducting expert visual examinations of a patient’s mouth and overall facial structure.
    • Making impressions (or molds) that will help in making dentures or for denture repairs
    • Becoming expert in all types of dentures and how to fit them. These include partial, full, upper, lower dentures or, in some cases, overdentures.

  • Managing a team of dental professionals.

For the best Dental Prosthetist in Arana Hills, Brisbane, and the surrounding areas, you can rely on Denture Square Brisbane. We have an excellent referral program that will choose the most accessible team relative to your budget, your location, or any specific service that you need.
